(x)clusive!: Put your hands in the air for MTV World Stage Live in Malaysia

“Put your hands in the air if you’re having a good time!” sang Jay Park and thousands of hands shot up to wave to the beat. It was definitely a spectacular show at the annual MTV World Stage Live in Malaysia, held at Sunway Lagoon on the 14th of July. Featuring Mizz Nina from Malaysia, KARA and Jay Park from Korea and global teen-idol Justin Bieber, it sure was a night of global music entertainment.

Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber opened the show with his well-known hits such as “Baby”, “All Around the World” and “As Long As You Love Me”, warming up the crowd hotter than the weather already was. At one point, Justin picked up the guitar and performed the acoustic version of “Die in Your Arms,” “Be Alright” and “One Time”, which got girls melting in his voice and even some guys were swooning. He finished his set with “Never Say Never” and his recent hit song, “Boyfriend”.

KARA

KARA was next to take the stage; all five of them were dressed in shimmery gold and black outfits as they were raised onstage and started their performance with “Step”. Without a break, the girls literally ‘jumped’ straight into the next song “Jumping” and their past hits, “Lupin” and “Honey”.

Finally, the girls greeted the crowd in English, and Nicole took the lead to express their gratitude to the fans’ love and support. She also introduced the song “Let It Go”, which was never performed live and it would be the first time it will be shown on a broadcast – the song and dance are pretty catchy, so remember to stay tuned to the premiere of MTV World Stage for this! KARA wrapped up their segment with their wildly-famous “butt-dance” routine, Mister.

Mizz Nina

Singer-songwriter Mizz Nina representing Malaysia for the concert didn’t disappoint as she worked the crowd with her party tracks “Just Do It”, “Takeover”, “Hit Me Up”, “Rentak Yang Sama”, “With You” and “Summer Burning”. Her final song, “What You Waiting For?”, had everyone in the crowd singing along to its lyrics, proving her high popularity in Malaysia.

Jay Park

And the real party time started when Jay Park came onstage and delivered an impressive finale to the MTV World Stage. Starting from his hit tracks Abandoned and Know Your Name, he worked the crowd with his reowned bboy dance moves. In between songs, Jay took the intiative to talk and interact with the audience – he even sang a bit of Justin Bieber‘s Boyfriend, which impressed the audience. Not a moment was dull as even when he had to head backstage for a change of clothes, Jay kept the crowd entertained by beatboxing at the same time. Certainly a multi-talented idol!

Jay performed “Carefree”, “Nothin’ On You”, “Girlfriend” (English version, for the first time ever), “I Got Your Back” and “Star”. The audience at World Stage were sure lucky to be able to catch the rap Jay specially wrote for the concert, and also a bboy performance he prepared with dance crews AOM, 1illionaire and Prepix, which they rehearsed for 2 weeks straight, 7 hours a day!

Wrapping up the night with Body2Body, Jay, donned in sunglasses and shiny gold outfit, ended the night with a shine and screams for more.
